Spokane is the second largest city in Washington State with a population of 203,276. Located in the northeast section of the state, Spokane is just 20 miles from the Idaho border and 30 miles from Coeur d'Alene, known across North America for its excellent golf course. Spokane is situated between the flat, arid desert of central Washington and the mountainous region of northeastern Washington and northwestern Idaho.
Spokane experiences warm, dry summers and moderately cold, snowy winters. There is a fairly wide daily temperature variation in the summer months, though not as extreme as that seen in a true desert region.
Spokane is roughly 4 hours from Seattle via I-90, which runs directly between the two cities and continues east to Coeur d'Alene. For those traveling by air, the Spokane International Airport is just 5 miles from the city and serves Spokane, Coeur d'Alene and the surrounding area with 10 major airlines.
